I return all the cards and schedules for com-

plete reexamination and check.

I draw special attention to the patient study of the Instructions of the 1st Ja uary 1909; and

I add a few remarks and cautions upon the course

to be pursued in this renewed enquiry.

Reexamination of cards and schedules.

Every item on these should be carefully examined with the official records of the Fund. Where an error is found, strike out (in ink) the wrong statement or figure clearly, and substitute (in ink) the correct item legibly. Where any addition-

al information, according to the Instructions, has been omitted, please supply it.

When the cards and schedules have been reexamined

an independent check of every item should be made

by a different examiner.

If a card or schedule becomes too much filled

with corrections for clearness, prepare and sub-

stitute a fresh card or schedule, returning also

the former card or schedule to me with a re-

ference to such substitution thereon.

If you

have not a supply of blank cards form another by

hand and insert the details.

clearness
